At Erskine Court, for Southampton City Council, we have demonstrated our understanding and in-depth knowledge of the key components for success with the completion of an ‘Exemplar’ housing with care scheme which included a number of ‘care ready’ fully wheelchair accessible, open plan and highly flexible units.

As with many extra care schemes, the communal element on the ground floor at Erskine Court is designed as a community hub where the communal dining room, lounge and health & wellbeing suite are also available to other local elderly residents. In doing so, special consideration was required around access and control to ensure the safety and security of residents whilst allowing the building to be enjoyed by the wider community.

External amenity space is provided to each flat. 18 of the 54 flats are designed to reflect “Care Ready” HAPPI standards being easily adaptable as the resident’s requirements change. Appropriately designed landscaped gardens are an important feature and the inclusion of many communal facilities making this development an ideal home for the elderly residents.
