Kenn Scaddan Associates have been developing 'eco-friendly' housing from the early stages of awareness, starting with BREEAM, through EcoHomes and now with the Code for Sustainable Homes.

We have designed numerous projects tackling the technological and social hurdles which are posed by this aspect of architecture. We have successfully completed schemes to both the old "Eco Homes- Excellent" rating and the current Code for Sustainable Homes Levels 3 and 4. In 2012 we completed a scheme for Radian at Stoneham Cemetery Road in Southampton (image on the right) which was the first project at Code Level 6 to be constructed in the City.

Our approach towards the Code for Sustainable Homes is to strive to achieve the most economically viable points striking a sustainable balance between the client's interests and future resident requirements.  As a practice we strongly believe in a holistic approach to design, not just focusing on renewable technologies, but rather looking at the scheme as a whole to see where improvements can be made through a 'passive' approach, offering a long term cost effective solution with reduced running costs.
